Ten Reasons Why
1) Nurturing
The most important thing to the staff at Field of Dreams is to
ensure each child knows he/she is loved. The teachers interact
with the children, at their level, throughout the day. The
teachers do not sit on the side, out of the way, in a comfortable
chair. The low staff/child ratios allow the time for individual
attention. Children experience the most significant growth and
development when they feel secure.
2)
Curriculum
Field of
Dreams has created a unique and specialized curriculum based on
NAEYC standards, ITERS/EKERS, and South Carolina Kindergarten
standards. It is designed to meet the needs of children as
individuals and within a group atmosphere. Our teachers are
required to attend early childhood training courses throughout
the year to stay current in the latest educational
developments.
3) Health and
Safety
Field of Deams
maintains very high standards for both cleanliness and safety.
Staff and children wash their hands routinely throughout the
day. There is bathroom access from the outside play area, as
well as a hand washing sink. Teachers routinely sanitize toys
and furniture between uses. Disposable gloves are worn
throughout the day including; diapering, attending to children’s
personal hygiene, serving snacks and food, and when medical
attention is needed. All staff are trained in blood borne
pathogens, CPR and first aid.
4) Safety and Security
Parents can
feel confident in knowing that each family has an individualized
code, which allows access to our secure Baxter facility. Secure
internet camera access is available to each family for the
pleasure of observing your child’s activities throughout the
day.
5) Growth and Development
Field of
Dreams focuses on developing the whole child which includes but
is not limited to; social, emotional, physical, and cognitive
development. We support this development through open ended
discussion, encouraging negotiating skills with peers, and
expressing their individualism.
6) Nutritious
Meals
We know that
the day is more enjoyable and goes more smoothly when children
have delicious, nutritious food, fresh air to play in and plenty
of opportunity to expend energy. Field of Dreams encourages
children’s self-help skills by participating in family style
meals. This is all part of our commitment to promoting
children's good health and physical development. Field of
Dreams meets Federal Food Standards for nutritional hot meals at
no extra cost to parents.
7) Natural
Playground
The Field
of Dreams team strongly believes that children develop and grow
through play and hands on learning experiences. A natural
playground allows children to have everyday play and learning
opportunities with nature. Our playground is an extension of
our classroom.
8) Communication
Frequent
communication between you and your child's teacher is essential.
We encourage open communication on a daily basis at both drop
off and pick up with the classroom teachers. Field of Dreams
provides an opportunity for families to participate in
parent/teacher conferences twice a year. Daily reports are
provided for children under two years of age. It is important to
be aware of the postings throughout the classroom and building.
A monthly newsletter is printed, posted and sent home via e-mail
and paper copy.
9) Respect
Field of
Dreams has an established relationship with both their families
and staff that encourages trust, open communication, and
respect.
10) You are always welcome
Parents are
always welcome at Field of Dreams. We encourage you to come by
at any time of the day to visit, have lunch or read a book.
